If you receive treatment while your skin barrier is damaged, will it help with recovery?

Constant exposure to the heater at the office has made my skin increasingly dry and sensitive. The cold winter air adds to the discomfort, as if my skin barrier has been compromised. This makes the change of seasons even more stressful. In this situation, I'm debating whether it's wise to opt for more invasive treatments like lasers or high-intensity treatments at a dermatologist, or to take it easy and focus on moisturizing and soothing treatments to help my skin recover. I'm especially cautious when my skin is weak, as even the slightest irritation can easily cause redness and breakouts. I'm curious whether aggressive treatments or procedures with a damaged skin barrier will help recovery, or if they could actually worsen it. If you've experienced something similar, I'd love to hear your advice on how you care for your skin.
