Changes After Under-Eye Fat Repositioning: A Comparison with Before Surgery

hello :)

I wrote a review after my lower eyelid fat repositioning surgery last time.

Today, now that some time has passed since the surgery, I would like to talk about how things have changed in my actual daily life.

Actually, before the surgery, I was really stressed out because of my under-eyes.

I had such severe dark circles since I was young that I was nicknamed "Panda." The center of my eyes was slightly protruding, while the sides were sunken, so my under-eye area wasn't smooth overall.

No matter how much concealer I applied, the unevenness under my eyes wouldn't be covered, and when I took photos, the area under my eyes looked particularly dark.

However, after having under-eye fat repositioning, I noticed more changes in my daily life than I expected.

Today, I will summarize the changes I have personally experienced.

◆ 1. The biggest difference when I go without makeup

Personally, I feel the biggest change when I'm barefaced.

Before the surgery, I was really self-conscious about my under-eyes if I didn't wear makeup.

Even when I was still, there were shadows under my eyes, and while the middle part was bulging out, the area below it was sunken, giving me a particularly tired impression.

Especially when I woke up in the morning and looked in the mirror, I felt like I looked tired even though I had slept enough.

I also frequently got asked by those around me if I was actually tired.

However, after the surgery, the uneven contours under my eyes were significantly smoothed out, making my bare face look much neater.

Of course, my dark circles haven't completely disappeared.

There are still some areas that look dark due to pigmentation, and sometimes shadows under the eyes are visible depending on the angle.

Still, I am most satisfied that the feeling of the center under my eyes bulging out and the sides looking sunken, like before, has decreased.

In the past, I used to feel self-conscious about going out without makeup, but these days, I don't pay as much attention to my under-eye area as I used to.

◆ 2. Has the amount of concealer used changed when applying makeup?

This part is also a more satisfying change than expected.

Before the surgery, I used concealer quite diligently to cover up dark circles under my eyes.

However, no matter how bright a color of concealer I applied, the area under my eyes wasn't smooth, so it didn't provide the coverage I wanted.

On the contrary, there were times when the product settled under my eyes, or the boundary between the bulging and sunken areas looked even more pronounced.

It was similar even when I got my makeup done at a makeup shop.

The color is corrected to some extent, but the curves under the eyes themselves remain as they are.

After the surgery, the shape of my under-eyes became smoother than before, and it definitely became easier to apply makeup.

It feels like lightly correcting only the necessary areas, rather than trying to thickly cover the entire under-eye area like before.

I don't stop using concealer entirely, but I no longer need to apply multiple layers to cover my under-eyes like I used to.

Personally, I like that the makeup finishes a little more naturally.

Of course, since pigmented dark circles remain, there are times when concealer is still needed.

Still, I am satisfied that the problem of my makeup looking messy due to the unevenness under my eyes has been improved.

◆ 3. I worry less about my under-eyes when taking photos.

I've always been most self-conscious about the area under my eyes when taking photos.

The curves under my eyes looked even more pronounced, especially when taking photos under bright lighting or in places where light was coming from above.

Because of the bulging part in the middle and the sunken parts on both sides, it felt like two lines of shadow were forming under my eyes.

So, after taking a photo, I find myself checking under my eyes first rather than my whole face lol.

I didn't like some of the photos because they seemed to make me look much more tired than I actually was.

However, after the surgery, the contours under my eyes have been smoothed out, so when I take photos, it feels like I look more natural than before.

I especially like that the bumpy appearance under my eyes in the frontal photo has been reduced.

Of course, shadows are still visible depending on the lighting or shooting angle.

It hasn't changed perfectly from every angle, as there are still some parts that look a bit sunken.

Still, while I used to check under my eyes first whenever I took a photo, that habit itself has decreased a lot now.

These small changes actually make a surprisingly big difference, haha.

◆ 4. What was the reaction of the people around?

Actually, this was also a change that I personally liked.

I've occasionally heard people I haven't seen in a while since surgery say that my face looks better.

You look better these days.

"You seem to have brightened up a bit."

Whenever I hear stories like this, it just makes me feel good for no reason lol

However, strangely enough, almost no one noticed first that I had undergone lower eyelid fat repositioning.

Even while having the surgery, I wanted my impression to improve naturally rather than my face changing drastically.

I also didn't want the area under my eyes to look excessively flat or awkward.

However, people around me commented that my face looked better overall rather than focusing on whether or not I had surgery, so I felt that the result was similar to what I had hoped for.

Of course, not everyone notices the change.

People who were aware of my under-eye concerns might notice a difference, but those who didn't seem to think I just look like I'm in good condition these days.

I actually like this natural reaction better.

◆ 5. Under-eye Fat Repositioning: My Personal Experience

Before the surgery, I wasn't even sure if lower eyelid fat repositioning was a surgery I needed.

I used to think it was a surgery only for people with a lot of protruding fat under their eyes.

However, I learned that even in cases like mine, where there is both sunken and slightly protruding under-eye area, it is possible to determine the feasibility and method of surgery through a consultation.

Of course, having surgery doesn't mean dark circles will completely disappear, nor does it solve all your under-eye problems.

I also still have some slight hollowness or shadows remaining, and I sometimes feel a pulling sensation.

However, I am currently quite satisfied because the uneven bumps under my eyes, which had stressed me out for a long time, have improved, and I worry less about my under-eyes than before when going barefaced or taking photos.

I decided to have the surgery after thinking about it for over a year, but now the small changes I feel in my daily life feel more significant than I expected.

If you, like me, have had severe dark circles since childhood or have been concerned about the unevenness under your eyes even after applying concealer, I recommend that you accurately assess the condition of your eyes and receive a thorough consultation.

I also plan to keep recording how the condition of my under-eyes changes as time goes by :)
