(Concern) Every time I brush my teeth, my gums bleed a lot, and I am worried about what to do.

It wasn't like this originally, but about a month ago, my gums started bleeding when I brush my teeth. I have experienced this occasionally before, but it wasn't severe. However, lately, the bleeding has become quite heavy. I tried brushing gently, but it still bleeds. Of course, if I brush very gently, it doesn't bleed, but I think that defeats the purpose of brushing. Do I need to take medication to stop the gum bleeding? Should I go to the dentist? I'm really worried about this these days.
