Post-implant surgery care and precautions

1. Swallow the needle and blood, and if bleeding continues from the surgical site, gently apply pressure with gauze for 3 to 5 minutes.

2. After surgery, please apply a cold compress with an ice pack at approximately 20-minute intervals until you sleep on the same day. (Swelling may be more pronounced on the 2nd to 3rd day after surgery, and cold compresses on the day of surgery help reduce swelling.) If multiple implants or bone grafts were performed, significant swelling may persist for 2 to 3 days.

3. Please gargle with the mouthwash (Hexamedine). For areas other than the surgical site, brush normally, and for the surgical site, gargle. Use about half of the cap, and let the solution contact the wound area for about 40 seconds. (Gargle approximately 3 to 5 times a day after meals, after brushing, and before sleeping.)

4. Sleep with your head slightly higher than your heart.

Do not take long saunas or hot baths on the day of the surgery.

You should refrain from alcohol and smoking for 8 weeks. (Absolutely avoid them for at least 2 weeks.) Smoking is contraindicated after implant treatment, and to ensure the longevity of the implant, you must quit smoking.

You must disinfect the day after the surgery, and the stitches will be removed 10 to 14 days after the surgery.

You should consume soft liquid foods for 2 to 3 days after surgery. Avoid very hot foods or foods with small particles such as sesame seeds, strawberries, etc.

9. If you have had implant surgery on the upper jaw, do not blow your nose forcefully. If you experience nosebleeds, do not panic and stop the bleeding using usual methods. For those who have undergone sinus bone graft surgery, some blood may flow from the nose, mouth, or throat. Do not blow your nose at this time under any circumstances.

10. Do not touch the surgical area with your hands.
