Is it okay to do the laminate?

My friend went to the dentist because her front teeth were gapped. The dentist said that veneers might fall off easily and recommended a full crown that completely grinds down the tooth. My friend was considering veneers, but since she was advised to get a crown, she couldn't decide and came back. I'm curious if anyone has had veneers in a similar situation and whether they really fell off easily. Should she just go with a crown?
