Recovery period and pain level after implants

Someone I know is about to get dental implants, and I am more worried about the post-procedure pain and recovery process than the procedure itself.

I know there are individual differences, but for those who have actually received implants, I am curious to know how long the pain lasted.

I would also like to know when the swelling or pain subsided, and how many days it took for the discomfort to lessen before I could eat.

If I undergo bone grafting, I am also wondering if there is a significant difference in pain or recovery time compared to a standard implant.
