Is it true that nasolabial folds appear after orthodontic treatment?

I often see reviews saying that nasolabial folds have deepened as facial fat is lost.

Especially after tooth extraction orthodontics
I'm a little worried because there's a lot of talk about my appearance changing.

I do want to get braces, but
I'm worried that it might make me look older than I am.

I am curious if the difference in actual feel is significant.
