A mole on my arm, can I just go to a dermatologist?

A few years ago, a light gray spot appeared near my elbow, and recently it seems to have darkened. Everyone who sees it asks if I have bruises on my arm, which is bothering me.

I don't have any pain, but I'm worried that there might be something strange, so I want to see a doctor. Is it okay to go to a dermatologist?
