BESTQuestion) My arm hurts from my hand to my arm.

My husband is busy these days, so he came back from work today.
He came and hugged the kids and gave them different body parts to give dad a massage.
I massage my shoulders by kneading them, pulling them with my thumb and index finger, and pulling them all the way from my wrist to my elbow.
I don't know if this is called numbness or what, but it hurts
Thinking about it, I think I often felt pain when I pressed something with my hand and used force, pulling from the bulge under my thumb all the way up my arm.
I wonder if it's because my hands are small and I'm straining them, or if I should do hand exercises more often.
Is this also because the muscles are strained?
