Lately, my lower front teeth felt like they were turning yellow, so I looked inside my mouth in the mirror. The exterior looked decent, but when I looked inside, I saw that they were stained with tartar. It seemed like the discoloration was caused by drinking coffee and cola frequently.
I had been putting off going to the dentist because it was such a hassle, but I finally decided to visit for the first time in 10 years. I went back to the dental clinic I had visited before. I told them I wanted a scaling and a check-up. Fortunately, there were no other patients waiting, so I went straight in for the scaling. I sat down, leaned back, and had a cloth placed around my mouth. Shortly after, the sounds of a machine and water began. The scaling had started.
It didn't hurt much when I had a scaling done before, so I went through with it calmly. It didn't hurt much this time either. I flinched a few times, but it was fine. Since there was a lot of tartar, the scaling took about 30 minutes. I had to keep my mouth open the whole time, so I eventually lost strength and felt uneasy just keeping it open. After the scaling, I could see the spaces between my teeth where the tartar had been.
After getting a scaling, the dentist came in, and fortunately, there were no issues. The total cost for the scaling and consultation was about 30,000 won. I think I was able to get it at this price because the scaling was covered by insurance. From now on, I plan not to find visiting the dentist a hassle and to visit regularly for scaling and checkups.
