I visited the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine because my entire right foot became uncomfortable after I severely stubbed my toe on an ice pack that fell from the refrigerator. Since I experienced pain when walking, I used a wheelchair to get to the examination room, but the staff kindly assisted me, allowing me to receive treatment without any discomfort. In the examination room, the director thoroughly checked the circumstances of the injury and the location of my current pain, and examined not only my toe but also the overall balance of my foot.
First, an X-ray was taken to check for fractures; fortunately, no major issues were found, and I was diagnosed with soft tissue injury and a sprain. Subsequent treatment focused on reducing swelling and pain, combining ultrasound therapy, electrical stimulation, and hot and cold compresses. In particular, walking assistance taping was applied to prevent strain on my foot, and I felt much more stable when stepping immediately after treatment. The treatment process was not intense, so I was able to receive it comfortably without any pain.
