🚨2025 National Health Checkup, Changes... Be sure to check❗❗

Health check-ups are really important.

This year is the year for odd-year-born individuals to undergo health screenings.

One of the newly expanded items in the national health checkup starting this year is the addition of osteoporosis screening.

Maybe it's because there are so many terrifying crimes these days...

Mental health screenings have also been expanded to include more people, and a new hepatitis C test will be introduced for those aged 56.

It's good that it is being implemented for the early detection of hepatitis C, which can lead to chronic liver disease and liver cancer.

Please don't forget to get a health check-up, including those who are eligible, their families, and parents~

It's great that there are more test items being added.

When you undergo the check-up, if you inquire about that matter, they will explain it to you at the hospital.

There has been an important change in the national health screening.

The National Health Checkup is an important health management service that all adults aged 20 and over can receive once every two years. The screenings are conducted based on whether the individual's birth year is odd or even. Non-office workers who are enrolled in employment insurance are required to undergo annual examinations. The examinations include various items such as physical checkups, vision and hearing tests, blood pressure measurement, chest X-ray, urine tests, oral health examinations, medical consultations, and counseling. Additional screening items are provided depending on gender and age, and notable changes will occur starting in 2025.

Starting this year, one of the newly expanded items in the national health screening is osteoporosis screening. Previously, only women aged 54 and 66 could undergo the test, but now women up to age 60 are included, making it even more important for women experiencing rapid bone density decline after menopause. Osteoporosis is difficult to treat and can lead to fractures, so preventive screening is necessary. Additionally, mental health screenings have also been expanded. Individuals aged 20-34 can receive mental health screenings every two years, those aged 35-39 once, and those aged 40-79 every ten years. Early detection and response to mental health issues have become increasingly important.

Cancer screening, which is one of the most important examination items, is also a core element of the national health checkup, and early detection can maximize treatment. All men and women over 40 should undergo gastric cancer screening every two years, and men and women over 50 should have colorectal cancer screening annually. Additionally, for those at high risk of liver cancer, liver cancer screening should be performed every six months, women over 40 can have breast cancer screening every two years, and women over 20 can have cervical cancer screening every two years. If there is a family history or if symptoms are suspected, it is essential to consult a specialist and undergo appropriate testing.

The newly introduced hepatitis C test targets individuals aged 56 and is conducted for early detection of hepatitis C, which can lead to chronic liver disease and liver cancer. If the antibody test result is positive, additional examinations and diagnostic costs for confirmation are fully covered. Additionally, hepatitis B screening continues to be provided for individuals aged 40. These new screening items will play an important role in the prevention and management of liver diseases.

In 2025, individuals born in odd-numbered years will be eligible for national health screenings. Those born in even-numbered years who missed their screenings last year can apply for an extension to receive the screening, and the extension application is available from the day after the screening expiration date up to six months later. This allows for missed screenings to be rescheduled, and they can also receive additional or expanded screening items.

Regular health check-ups are the first step in disease prevention. According to the National Health Insurance Service, 7 out of 10 citizens who received the national health screening in 2023 had risk factors such as abdominal obesity, hypertension, and high blood sugar, which increase the risk of metabolic syndrome and can lead to cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. To recognize and manage these issues early, it is important to improve dietary habits and actively prevent them through regular exercise. Health screenings are not only tools for detecting diseases but should also become an important habit for maintaining health.
