During seasonal changes like now, when the temperature difference between day and night is large, our bodies struggle to adapt, and our immune system weakens, making us more susceptible to colds. This is why maintaining a healthy diet to boost immunity during seasonal transitions is important.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Food Safety Information Service on the 23rd, adequate vitamin intake and drinking warm water can help prevent colds.

 

Consuming plenty of vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins and minerals helps boost immunity. Since vitamin C-rich foods like chili peppers, bell peppers, and oranges are easily destroyed during cooking, it is best to consume them raw whenever possible.

 

Drinking enough warm water is also good for blood circulation and metabolism during seasonal changes. Drinking water frequently helps with blood circulation in the body and promotes metabolism. Additionally, warm water helps soothe inflammation in the bronchi, reducing swelling and pain caused by frequent coughing.

If you have a cough and a scratchy throat, doraji tea is recommended. Doraji is rich in saponin compounds that are effective in relieving inflammation and phlegm, as well as boosting immunity. In particular, saponin compounds strengthen the bronchial mucosa. Doraji has excellent effects in eliminating bronchial inflammation and is often used as a main ingredient in cough suppressants and expectorants.

 

Ginger is also a good food for changing seasons. Ginger has the effect of reducing heat and calming inflammation, helping to alleviate cold symptoms such as rhinitis, sinusitis, phlegm, cough, and bronchitis. In particular, the gingerol and shogaol components in ginger help improve blood circulation and warm the body. The spicy component of ginger, gingerol, has excellent efficacy in strengthening and preventing the immune system.

 

Additionally, radish is rich in moisture, making it effective in relieving sore throat and cough. The moisture in radish helps soothe inflamed throat mucous membranes caused by coughing. It is also good to finely grate radish and eat it or brew it in honey to drink as tea when experiencing cold symptoms. The sinigrin contained in radish has antipyretic effects, helps thin mucus, and strengthens the bronchial mucosa. The skin of the radish is rich in vitamin C, which helps improve immune function.

 

Additionally, yuzu is widely known as a food rich in vitamin C. Yuzu contains about three times more vitamin C than lemon, making it effective in alleviating cold symptoms such as throat inflammation and cough. The citric acid in yuzu helps break down lactic acid and relieves fatigue. Furthermore, the limonene component in yuzu alleviates throat inflammation and is effective against sore throats accompanied by cough. The hesperidin in the yuzu peel helps with anti-cancer, antimicrobial, and liver detoxification, and also soothes coughs, making it effective in alleviating cough symptoms.
