Can dry eye syndrome occur even if the eyes do not feel gritty?

I don't feel like my eyes are severely dry, but
By the afternoon, my eyes get tired easily and I feel like I can't focus well. 👀

Could this also be related to dry eyes?
I'm curious how to distinguish it from simple eye strain.
