Precautions

This medication contains three ingredients: sitagliptin, dapagliflozin, and metformin, and precautions should be taken regarding each ingredient. Firstly, sitagliptin can occasionally cause severe allergic reactions. If severe rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing occurs, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever arise after taking the medication, promptly inform medical personnel. Secondly, dapagliflozin can cause dehydration and low blood pressure, particularly in patients with impaired renal function, the elderly, or those on diuretics. This medication may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections; thus, if any infection symptoms occur, immediate treatment should be sought. Also, a rare side effect of severe perineal necrosis has been reported; if pain, swelling, or redness occurs around the genitals, seek immediate medical attention. Thirdly, metformin can rarely cause a serious metabolic disturbance known as lactic acidosis, which presents with symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and lethargy. Patients with decreased renal function or poor liver function may be at risk when taking this medication, so regular kidney and liver function tests should be conducted before and during use. This medication should not be taken in special situations such as having certain diseases, being pregnant, experiencing acute heart failure, dehydration, severe infections, or being scheduled for surgery. Any changes in condition during use should be consulted with a doctor immediately. Lastly, symptoms of hypoglycemia may arise, so it is crucial to maintain a regular meal schedule and be mindful of the risk of hypoglycemia when exercising or combining with other drugs. While taking this medication, it is important to regularly monitor blood glucose and renal function and to quickly inform medical personnel of any unusual symptoms.
