Essential hypertension is a condition where blood pressure remains consistently elevated, and this medication is used to effectively manage essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 30 to 60 mg once daily, administered regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dose may be increased to 120 mg once daily. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day if possible. For elderly patients over 70 years of age, the initial dose is recommended at 30 mg once daily. In patients with severe renal impairment, treatment should be initiated at 30 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus or newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be stopped immediately. This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to its components, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, patients on kidney dialysis, patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, or patients with bile duct obstruction. Patients with reduced blood volume or salt deficiency, impaired kidney function, renal artery hypertension, aortic or heart valve issues, and primary aldosteronism should exercise special caution when using this medication. When taking this medication, symptoms such as headache and dizziness may commonly occur, and more rarely, dyspepsia, vomiting, skin rashes, myalgia, and hypotension may occur; if unusual symptoms appear, consult a physician immediately. If blood pressure drops too low or severe side effects occur, stop taking the medication and seek appropriate treatment. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.; thus, consulting a physician or pharmacist is essential. It is advisable to avoid taking this medication if pregnant or breastfeeding; if necessary, breastfeeding or medication should be discontinued. It is recommended not to use this medication in children under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients aged 65 and older may react more sensitively to this medication; caution is advised during use, although dosage adjustment is typically not necessary. Patients with moderate to severe liver impairment should not use this medication, and mild liver impairment patients should take it while closely monitoring their condition. In case of overdose, hypotension and cardiac rhythm abnormalities may occur, so immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers for safety.
