Prevention of infection through disinfection of hands, skin, and medical instruments
This medicine is primarily used for the disinfection of hands and skin. It is especially suitable for healthcare workers and for disinfection of surgeons' hands during surgery, and it is effective for disinfecting medical instruments, furniture, and tools. It can also be used for disinfecting wound areas of the skin. In other words, it is used for hygiene and infection prevention in various environments.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate should be diluted according to the following concentrations based on its intended use: ① Disinfection of hands and skin (excluding disinfection of the hands of healthcare workers and skin at the surgical site): 0.1 - 0.5% aqueous solution ② Disinfection of medical instruments: 0.1 - 0.5% aqueous solution or 0.5% ethanol solution ③ Disinfection of furniture, tools, and skin wound areas: 0.05% aqueous solution
This medication contains chlorhexidine and is used for disinfecting the skin or wound areas. However, it should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug, or on sensitive areas such as the brain, spinal cord, and ears. It should not be used on mucous membranes such as the vagina, bladder, and oral cavity, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact with the eyes. Patients with allergies to other medications or a history of allergic conditions such as asthma should use this medication with caution. If symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, difficulty breathing, or redness occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a medical professional. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock, so caution is required. It is safest for pregnant or nursing women not to use this drug, and the same applies to women who may become pregnant. It should only be used externally, and accidental ingestion or injection can lead to serious side effects, requiring immediate emergency measures. If it gets into the eyes, it should be rinsed immediately with plenty of clean water, as severe corneal damage may occur. It is advisable not to use this medication on extensive wounds or burn areas, and special caution is needed for neonates or premature infants due to a higher risk of side effects. Care must be taken to avoid contact with substances that reduce its antibacterial effect, and it should always be used in a clean state. If diluted for use, it is preferable to use clean distilled water, and the diluent should be freshly prepared for use daily. During storage, appropriate temperature and pH must be maintained, as prolonged storage in high temperatures may reduce effectiveness. When using this medication, caution is required as there is a risk of ignition when used with alcohol-containing products.
