Improvement of osteoarthritis of the knee and periarthritis of the shoulder
This medication is used for osteoarthritis of the knee and shoulder periarthritis.
As sodium hyaluronate, administer 25mg weekly for 5 consecutive weeks into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa or biceps tendon). Adjust the number of administrations according to the symptoms.
This medication is used to inject sodium hyaluronate into the joint to improve joint function. This medication should not be administered to patients with prior allergic reactions to this drug or its ingredients, and those with skin diseases or infections at the injection site should avoid its use. Additionally, patients with liver dysfunction or a history of liver disorders should use this medication with caution as it may increase liver enzyme levels. Patients allergic to avian proteins should also not be administered this drug. Serious allergic reactions such as shock may occur upon administration, so the patient’s condition should be closely monitored afterward. If hypersensitivity symptoms such as swelling, facial or eyelid swelling, rashes, hives, or itching appear, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be provided. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, warmth, severe pressure, or bruising may occur at the injection site, and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and headaches may occur rarely. In cases of severe arthritis or intra-articular inflammation, this medication may exacerbate the inflammation, so it is advisable to administer it after the inflammation has subsided. After administration, the injection site should be stabilized, and excessive exercise should be avoided, especially vigorous activities like jogging or tennis within 48 hours after administration. The safety or efficacy of this medication used in conjunction with other intra-articular injections has not been confirmed, so it is advisable not to combine it with other intra-articular injections. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously, as safety has not been established, and should only be used when benefits outweigh risks. Nursing mothers should avoid breastfeeding while using this medication. The safety for children has not been adequately verified, so it should be administered cautiously only when absolutely necessary. Elderly patients may have reduced physical functioning, thus requiring more caution during administration. This medication should be administered aseptically into the knee or shoulder joint, and if symptoms do not improve, it should be administered a maximum of five times. If there is excessive joint fluid, it is advisable to aspirate the fluid before administration. Intra-venous administration is strictly prohibited, and it is not for ophthalmic use. During injection, due to the high viscosity, select an appropriate needle size and ensure that the injection solution does not adhere to the ampoule. Before injection, disinfect the injection site with an alcohol swab to prevent contamination. Additionally, caution should be observed as this medication may react with disinfectants such as benzalkonium chloride or chlorhexidine, forming precipitates. This medication is for single use; any remaining solution after opening should be discarded, and it is advisable to administer after a local anesthetic such as lidocaine has been injected.
