For the 100/1000 mg sustained-release tablet, take 1 tablet once daily. Patients taking 50/500 mg sustained-release tablets or 50/1000 mg sustained-release tablets should take 2 tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. Also, this medication may potentially cause pancreatitis, so if symptoms of pancreatitis such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite occur after taking, inform your healthcare provider immediately. The metformin component can lead to a dangerous condition known as lactic acidosis in severe cases; hence, patients with renal dysfunction or certain diseases such as dehydration, severe infection, or heart failure should not take it. Particularly, patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, those with acute heart failure, and those undergoing tests with iodinated contrast media should avoid using this medication, as should pregnant or breastfeeding women. Attention is required as irregular meal patterns, excessive exercise, or taking certain medications may increase the risk of lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia. This medication contains tartrazine (Yellow No. 4) dye, so it should be taken cautiously by those who are allergic to this component. During treatment, gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, or abdominal pain may occur, and in rare cases, hypoglycemia or skin rashes may arise.
