Precautions

This medication is an antidiabetic treatment containing both sitagliptin and metformin. Firstly, severe allergic reactions may occur while taking this medication; if symptoms such as skin rash, itching, or difficulty breathing arise, you should immediately discontinue use and consult a physician. Serious side effects including acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, have been reported while taking this medication. If abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe indigestion occurs, you must visit a hospital immediately. Additionally, metformin may rarely cause a life-threatening condition known as lactic acidosis. If symptoms such as severe fatigue, muscle pain, breathing difficulty, abdominal pain, or changes in consciousness appear, you should immediately stop taking the medication and inform healthcare professionals. This medication should not be used in patients with severely impaired kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. It should also be discontinued for a certain period before and after surgery. During treatment, it is important to regularly monitor kidney function, blood tests, and vitamin B12 levels. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so patients should be vigilant for signs of low blood sugar if meals are missed or irregular, if intense exercise is performed, or if taken with other blood sugar-lowering agents. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as women who are breastfeeding, should not take this medication. This medication's safety and efficacy have not been established in children, and caution is necessary for elderly patients due to decreased kidney function. Finally, avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medication and consult your physician or pharmacist about potential interactions when taking other medications.
