Treatment of active duodenal ulcer and benign gastric ulcer, relief of symptoms, and maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive)
This medication is used for the short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcers and active benign gastric ulcers. It is also effective for the maintenance therapy to prevent relapse after the treatment of duodenal ulcers. It is utilized for short-term treatment and maintenance therapy of symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly erosive esophagitis. This medication helps alleviate symptoms by protecting the gastric mucosa and soothing inflammation. Hence, it is widely used for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and esophagitis.
This medication should be taken at least 1 hour before meals on an empty stomach. It should be swallowed whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take with beverages other than water. Do not chew or crush. 1. Short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcer: 15/600 mg taken orally once daily for 4 weeks 2. Short-term treatment of active benign gastric ulcer: 30/600 mg taken orally once daily for 8 weeks 3.
This medication should not be used by patients with allergies to specific ingredients or those who have experienced hypersensitive reactions. Women who are pregnant, as well as patients with severe renal impairment, severe hypercalcemia, or parathyroid dysfunction, should also avoid administration. Caution is necessary when taking this medication concurrently with other drugs, especially HIV medications or certain antiviral agents due to the risk of interactions. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may affect the absorption of certain medications, so it is essential to consult a healthcare professional when taking other medications concurrently. Pregnant or nursing mothers should preferably avoid administration of this medication; if unavoidable, a careful decision should be made after consulting a specialist. Safety in children has not been established, so it is to be used only for adult dosing, and elderly individuals should start with lower doses and use cautiously. In case of overdose, gastric lavage or symptomatic treatment may be required, and it should be stored out of reach of children.
