There is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low or electrolyte imbalances occurring, so patients on diuretics or with restricted salt intake should be particularly mindful of hypotensive symptoms, and it is important to lie down and receive intravenous therapy if symptoms arise. Due to the risk of elevated blood potassium levels, patients with heart failure or reduced kidney function should regularly monitor their potassium levels through blood tests.
