Unicentaj (Zahagu Extract) (Vial)

Adult administration

As Zahagu Extract, 2 mL to be administered subcutaneously three times a week for two weeks (total of six administrations).

This medication contains ingredients extracted from human placenta. Therefore, thorough testing for infections is conducted during the harvesting of the placenta, and safety measures are taken during manufacturing; however, it cannot completely eliminate the risk of infection transmission. Hence, this medication should only be used minimally when absolutely necessary. Additionally, this medication contains benzyl alcohol, which could cause severe respiratory issues in premature infants; caution is advised. This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this medication or other drugs, individuals suspected of having organic diseases, patients with severe complications not related to the heart, liver, or kidneys, those with psychogenic disorders, and newborns or premature infants should not receive this medication. Patients with allergic predispositions should exercise particular caution when using this medication. Severe side effects such as shock may occur while using this medication, thus if such symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Also, hypersensitive reactions such as fever, rash, nausea, and chills may appear; administration should cease if such symptoms occur. Pain or redness at the injection site may occur, and rarely, gynecomastia or mastalgia may appear, requiring cessation of administration if such changes occur. Before using this medication, it is important to fully explain to the patient that it contains components derived from human placenta and that the risk of infection is not completely absent. When administered subcutaneously, it should be injected carefully avoiding nerves around the injection site, and switching sides to avoid repeated injections in the same area is advisable. If severe pain is felt during injection or blood is seen in the aspiration, the needle should be removed immediately and injected in another area. This medication must only be used for subcutaneous injection.

This medication may be sensitive to light, thus it should be stored in a light-protective, tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage ensures the medication's efficacy and safety are maintained for a longer period.
