Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency
Used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in elderly patients, adolescents, and adults with vitamin D deficiency. This medication helps normalize the levels of vitamin D in the body, contributing to the maintenance of healthy bones and calcium metabolism. It particularly helps prevent bone-related diseases and improves bone density, thereby reducing the risk of fractures. Additionally, it contributes to overall health enhancement and the strengthening of immune function. Therefore, it is effectively used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency.
Administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Elderly patients should receive 100,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Ensure that the annual dose does not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

This medication contains vitamin D and should be taken with care to avoid overdose. When taken with vitamin D fortified foods or other treatments, the total intake must be verified. Regular tests of calcium levels in blood should be performed, and if calcium levels become too high, the medication should be discontinued. Care should be taken to avoid contamination with glass particles when using injections, especially in children or the elderly. This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it should be avoided in patients with allergies to any components of this medication, hypercalcemia, kidney stones, kidney disease, immobile patients, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. During usage, various side effects such as headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive issues, dehydration, and hypertension may arise; hence, medical consultation should be sought immediately in case of unusual symptoms. It is crucial to regularly check the levels of vitamin D and parathyroid hormone to prevent overdose, and patients with reduced kidney function should have their serum creatinine levels monitored regularly. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is necessary when taken with anticonvulsants, diuretics, antacids, warfarin, etc. Frequent monitoring of serum calcium levels is required when taken alongside these medications. During pregnancy, overdose should be avoided, as it could cause physical and mental issues for the fetus, hence it is safer for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this drug. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 12 years of age, so it is advisable not to use it in this age group. In case of overdose, vitamin D intake should be stopped immediately, calcium intake reduced, fluid intake increased, and diuretic treatments undertaken. This medication should not be mixed with other drugs, and any leftovers after opening should be discarded promptly. Store away from direct sunlight in a sealed container to prevent exposure to light. Additionally, it is essential to keep it at a cool temperature between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius to maintain the drug's efficacy.
