Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin, helping patients with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar levels. When used in conjunction with diet and exercise, it can more effectively control blood sugar levels. This helps maintain stable blood sugar and supports diabetes management. The prescription is tailored to the patient's health condition, and consistent use is important. This medication improves blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The 100/1000 mg sustained release tablet is taken once daily as 1 tablet. Those taking the 50/500 mg sustained release tablet or 50/1000 mg sustained release tablet should take 2 tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. For patients not currently treated with metformin: The initial dose is a total daily dose of 100 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin. If this initial dose is not sufficient for blood sugar control, adjustments may be made as needed.
This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride. Firstly, sitagliptin can rarely cause severe allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare provider. Additionally, sitagliptin may lead to pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, requiring patients to inform a doctor immediately if symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever occur. Metformin hydrochloride can cause a rare but serious metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis. Should symptoms such as severe fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain appear, immediate medical intervention is necessary. This medication should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute cardiac conditions or heart failure, severe liver disease, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with specific acute illnesses. Regular monitoring of renal function is required during treatment, and this medication should be temporarily halted in cases of dehydration or severe infection. Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, abstaining from alcohol is advised. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, so caution is needed for skipped meals, irregular eating habits, or excessive exercise. This medication should be discontinued for a specified period before and after surgery, and it is important to consult healthcare providers when using this medication alongside other hypoglycemic agents as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. During the use of this medication, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, upper respiratory infections, and other side effects may occur, and if severe joint pain or skin blisters appear, a physician should be informed immediately. Lastly, the safety of this medication has not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, so its use in this age group is not recommended.
