Treatment of bacterial skin infections (impetigo, folliculitis, etc.)
This medication is effective against most bacteria causing skin infections, including methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus and other staphylococci, streptococci, as well as Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenzae. It is primarily used for bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, furuncles, and infectious eczema, and is suitable for treating bacterial skin infections that occur on injured or burned areas. This medication effectively treats bacterial infections and helps to improve the skin condition.
Apply a small amount to the infected area 2-3 times a day for 10 days. If necessary, the applied area may be dressed or sealed.
This medication should not be used in individuals who have hypersensitivity to it or its ingredients, or to other ointments containing polyethylene glycol. Patients with impaired kidney function should not use this medication, as polyethylene glycol may be absorbed through damaged skin and excreted by the kidneys. It is safer for pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers to avoid using this medication. Do not use on torn wounds or damaged skin for an extended period, and be careful when applying for a long time on exposed skin, as it may affect immune function. Allergic reactions such as burning sensation, pain, itching, rash, and erythema may occur on the skin when using this medication. Occasionally, side effects such as nausea, dry skin, tenderness, swelling, contact dermatitis, and increased exudate may occur. Severe allergic reactions may occur rarely, so if any unusual symptoms arise, stop use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. If severe irritation, itching, or rash occurs on the skin while using this medication, discontinue use, wash thoroughly, and consult a doctor or pharmacist. To prevent antibiotic resistance, use for the minimum duration necessary for treatment and confirm the sensitivity of the infecting bacteria. Be cautious of excessive growth of other microorganisms such as fungi with long-term use. If symptoms do not improve after 3-5 days of use, consult a healthcare professional to decide whether to continue use. When applying to the face, take care to avoid contact with the eyes, and do not use on mucous membranes of the eyes or nose. No side effects affecting driving or machinery operation have been confirmed with this medication. Be cautious when used with other medications, as the effectiveness and stability of this medication may be reduced. Insufficient data exists regarding the safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is best not to use it. In case of excessive use, although toxicity is low, clean the area well and seek appropriate treatment if necessary. This medication is for external use only and should not be applied to mucous membranes such as the eyes or nose. It is not suitable for use at the site of central venous catheterization. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers. It is advisable to safely dispose of any unused medication after use.
