Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This drug is used in conjunction with dietary management and exercise therapy to assist in blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered to individuals who have no prior experience with diabetes medication or in cases where monotherapy is insufficient for blood sugar control. Additionally, it can be used when monotherapy with metformin or sitagliptin is inadequate or to replace a combination therapy with both drugs. When used in conjunction with metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, it can also improve blood sugar control when these medications alone are insufficient. It thus aids in managing diabetes by enhancing blood sugar control in a variety of therapeutic settings.
For antidiabetic therapy, this medication should be determined based on each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg. Generally, it is taken twice daily with food, and the dosage should be gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. 1. For patients not treated with metformin: Initial dose

Lactic acidosis can present with symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, and abdominal pain, so if these symptoms occur, you must immediately inform medical personnel. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medication, and temporarily stop the medication during surgery, severe dehydration, or infection. Also, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur, so do not skip meals, take the medication regularly, and exercise caution as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used in conjunction with other blood glucose-lowering agents. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this drug, and safety has not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years old. Finally, while taking this medication, regular kidney function and blood tests should be conducted to check for abnormalities, and if any unusual symptoms arise during treatment, consult a doctor immediately.
