Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (rhinitis, conjunctivitis) and dermatitis (chronic urticaria)
This medication is primarily used for allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis, and chronic urticaria.
Adults and children aged 12 and older: orally administer 10 mg once daily as Evastine. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.
Children aged 6-11 years: administer 5 mg once daily.
This medication contains lactose, which may cause hypersensitivity reactions such as diarrhea in children or adolescents who are sensitive to lactose. If such symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately. Patients with an allergic reaction to this medication or with severe liver dysfunction should not use this medication. Patients with liver function issues or those who have a history of liver disease should be cautious when using this medication as it may worsen liver function. Additionally, patients who have prolonged QT intervals that may affect cardiac rhythms or those taking certain medications should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause side effects such as increased heart rate, drowsiness, irritability, weakness, headaches, dyspepsia, elevated liver function tests, skin rash, and weight gain. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock have also been reported. When performing tasks that require focus, such as driving or operating machinery, individuals should check their reactions after taking this medication and exercise caution. This medication is also not suitable for rapid allergic reaction treatment. Patients undergoing prolonged steroid therapy should manage the process of reducing steroid dosage carefully when using this medication. This medication may enhance the effect of other antihistamines, and caution should be taken when used together with certain antibiotics or antifungal agents, as they may increase blood concentration or affect the heart. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously only when necessary, as its safety is not guaranteed. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding when taking this medication. It is advisable not to use this medication in children under 6 years of age as its safety has not been established. It is best not to use this medication prior to allergy testing, and in cases of overdose, monitoring the overall condition including heart status is essential, followed by appropriate treatment such as gastric lavage if necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may compromise the quality of the product, so it should be avoided.
