Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it is contraindicated in patients with allergies to the active ingredient or other components. It is also unsuitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and those in a coma. Patients with severe infections or those undergoing surgery or with severe trauma may require insulin therapy instead of this medication. Caution is required in patients with severely impaired liver function or heart failure, and it is particularly not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Patients who are taking sulfonylureas or insulin are at risk of hypoglycemia and should be careful. Patients with poor nutritional status, irregular eating habits, those who engage in strenuous exercise, or those who consume excessive alcohol are also at risk of hypoglycemia and should be cautious. Patients with a history of abdominal surgery or intestinal obstruction should be monitored closely. Patients with conditions that can affect heart rhythm or those at risk for QT interval prolongation should avoid using this medication. If signs of acute pancreatitis appear, immediate medical attention should be sought and this medication may need to be discontinued. This medication can cause side effects such as hypoglycemia, constipation, liver function abnormalities, etc., and if symptoms occur, consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Particularly, the risk of hypoglycemia can increase when taken with other diabetes medications, so frequent monitoring of blood sugar is essential. If dizziness, severe joint pain, or skin blisters or rashes occur while taking this medication, the doctor should be notified immediately. Use of this medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and safety in children has not been established. Elderly patients may have diminished bodily function, so close monitoring is necessary when administered. In cases of overdose, general emergency treatment should be administered, and if necessary, precise tests such as ECG may be required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers. Additionally, this medication may interact with specific drugs, so if there are other medications being taken concurrently, it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist.
