This medication is used to assist with dietary and exercise therapies to help patients with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It can be used alone or in combination with other treatments to effectively manage blood sugar levels. This contributes to improving blood sugar levels and managing diabetes.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for this medication is 20 mg once daily, whether as monotherapy or combination therapy. It can be taken regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it is not suitable for patients with allergies to its ingredients or those with diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, or type 1 diabetes. Additionally, it is not recommended for patients who have severe infections, are undergoing surgery, or have experienced severe trauma. Care should be taken when administering this drug to patients with severely impaired liver function or heart failure. It is particularly not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Patients taking sulfonylureas or insulin may be at risk for hypoglycemia and should exercise caution. Patients who have poor nutritional status, have irregular eating habits, engage in excessive physical activity, or consume excessive alcohol are also at risk for hypoglycemia and should be cautious. Symptoms of pancreatitis may occur; if severe abdominal pain or vomiting occurs, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, and patients should be well-informed about the symptoms and management of hypoglycemia, especially when taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas. When driving or working at heights, caution should be taken due to the risk of hypoglycemia. If joint pain worsens or a blistering skin condition appears while taking this medication, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended as its safety has not been established. It is not administered to children as safety and efficacy have not been verified. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions and should be monitored closely while using this medication. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, and symptomatic relief treatment may be necessary. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
