View approved original text

This medication is used to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels and to increase HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, as well as mixed dyslipidemia. It is primarily administered in conjunction with dietary therapy and helps when dietary measures alone are insufficient. Before use, other causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes and hypothyroidism should be confirmed, and those causes should be treated if necessary. Additionally, if hypercholesterolemia raises the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, treatment should consider multiple risk factors. This medication has not been proven to have superior effects on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality reduction compared to atorvastatin. Monitoring and management of blood lipids are crucial, and rapid lipid testing is recommended during acute coronary events. In summary, this medication is used to treat dyslipidemia by regulating cholesterol and lipid levels.
