This medication helps relieve symptoms of cough and phlegm associated with acute and chronic respiratory diseases. It is also effectively used for cough during pediatric influenza and colds. Therefore, it is used to improve symptoms of cough and phlegm related to respiratory diseases.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

10ml per dose, typically 3 times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Children's dosage

Children (ages 3 to 12): 5ml per dose, typically 3 times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have allergic reactions to this medication, those with ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, patients with glaucoma, patients with lower urinary tract obstruction diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, and premature infants and newborns should not be administered. Additionally, care should be taken when administering this medication to patients with elevated intracranial pressure, hyperthyroidism, peptic ulcers or pyloric duodenal obstruction, cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, bronchitis, asthma, liver diseases, and newborns. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea or hypersensitivity reactions such as hives, itching, and rashes may rarely occur, so caution is necessary. Also, heart-related symptoms such as tachycardia or hypertension, and neurological adverse reactions such as seizures or confusion may occur. If a severe allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use immediately and receive appropriate treatment, and monitor for aplastic anemia or agranulocytosis through blood tests. This medication may cause drowsiness, so caution is needed when driving or operating dangerous machinery. The sodium benzoate contained in this medication may cause slight irritation to the skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. When using this medication in combination with other drugs, interactions should be carefully considered. Particularly, when taken with some antibiotics, the efficacy may be reduced, so a minimum interval of 2 hours should be maintained. Using alcohol or central nervous system depressants may lead to increased drowsiness. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this medication with caution, and nursing mothers should also be careful as this medication may be excreted in breast milk. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so administration should be monitored closely. In the case of overdose of this medication, emergency treatment should be sought, such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage, and symptoms of toxicity may include coma, seizures, and heart issues. Finally, it is advisable not to mix this medication's solution with other drugs.
