This medication effectively lowers total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while helping to increase HDL-cholesterol levels. It is used as an adjunct to diet in order to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease. Before use, it is important to identify and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia if necessary. Drug therapy should be combined with an appropriate diet that limits saturated fat and cholesterol and is applied when there is insufficient response to non-drug therapy. Additionally, in patients with acute coronary events, lipid testing should be performed upon admission or within 24 hours after admission to decide on treatment direction. This medication is effectively used to improve hypercholesterolemia.
