View approved original text

This medication is used to improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone or in combination with dietary and exercise therapy and can be used in patients with no previous experience with other diabetes medications. If blood glucose control is insufficient with monotherapy, it can be administered in combination with metformin. Furthermore, if blood glucose control is difficult with monotherapy using sulfonylurea, metformin, thiazolidinedione, or insulin, this medication can be combined with other agents to enhance effectiveness. Even when blood glucose control is challenging with multiple medications, this drug can be added to continue treatment. This medication is effectively used to improve blood glucose control.
