This medication is prescribed only for patients using the two drugs, Olmesartan Medoxomil and Rosuvastatin, together. Olmesartan Medoxomil is primarily effective for treating essential hypertension. Rosuvastatin is used for various dyslipidemic conditions, especially primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and is used as an adjunct when diet and exercise do not suffice. It is also used in conjunction with dietary control for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and dysbetalipoproteinemia. Rosuvastatin lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, slows the progression of atherosclerosis, and helps reduce the risks associated with cardiovascular diseases. In summary, this drug improves cardiovascular health by managing both hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication, in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in fertile women who are not using adequate contraception. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain health conditions such as severely impaired renal function or those undergoing dialysis, severe liver impairment, cholestasis, or myopathy. Hypotension may occur in patients with low blood volume or salt deficiency, so sufficient precursory checks and caution are necessary before administration, and regular monitoring is needed due to the potential for kidney function changes. Myalgias, myopathy, and, rarely, rhabdomyolysis may occur, so immediate medical attention is required if muscle-related symptoms occur. Liver function abnormalities have also been reported, and periodic liver enzyme testing is necessary; if signs of liver damage appear, administration should be stopped immediately. This medication can lower blood pressure, which may cause dizziness; caution should be used when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Drug interactions may occur with certain medications, so patients taking other drugs should inform their healthcare providers, especially with potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant must use adequate contraception and should not use this medication during pregnancy. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years old, so use is not recommended. In the elderly, dosing adjustments and monitoring may be necessary due to potential increases in drug concentration. Overdosage can lead to symptoms such as hypotension and palpitations; immediate medical treatment should be sought in such cases. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and should not be transferred to other containers.
