Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. Rarely, shock symptoms such as nausea, cold extremities, and difficulty breathing may occur. If such symptoms develop, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate medical treatment. Additionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousness, angioedema, airway obstruction, rash, urticaria, itching, eyelid redness and swelling, skin redness, and conjunctival congestion may occur, requiring cessation of use if these symptoms are observed. Transient burning, irritation, or discomfort may occur in the eye, and sometimes pain, redness, itching, conjunctivitis, keratitis, periorbital and facial swelling, foreign body sensation, photophobia, blurred vision, tearing, dryness, ocular pain, dizziness, and corneal disorders may manifest. In severe cases, serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, necessitating immediate discontinuation of the medication if these symptoms arise. Hearing loss, symptoms of irritation, and taste disturbances may also occur. Long-term use of this medication may lead to excessive proliferation of fungi or non-susceptible bacteria, so it should be used only for the necessary minimum duration, and if a superinfection is suspected, treatment should be switched to another therapy. Particularly in the elderly or when used in conjunction with steroids, the risk of tendonitis or rupture may increase, so if pain or inflammation occurs, use should be discontinued immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women should discontinue nursing or stop taking the medication. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in pediatric patients, so use should be avoided. This medication is intended for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact between the container opening and the eye, as well as avoiding joint use to prevent contamination. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool place, while also ensuring that it is not transferred to another container to maintain quality.
