Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; hence, it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to any of its components, severe liver disease, aortic stenosis, biliary obstruction, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, patients in shock, and some diabetes patients. In patients with hypotension due to lack of fluids or salts, signs of hypotension may occur, so careful observation and administration is required. Severe vasodilation may lead to hypotension, so caution is especially necessary in patients with aortic stenosis. Caution is also warranted in patients with severe coronary artery disease or congestive heart failure, as kidney function may change in patients with impaired renal function. This medication is metabolized in the liver, so dosage adjustments and careful monitoring are necessary in patients with compromised liver function. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, nausea, vomiting, rash, muscle pain, and edema may occur, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a healthcare provider. Use during pregnancy poses risks to the fetus; therefore, individuals planning to become pregnant or who are pregnant should consult a physician. If breastfeeding, the administration of this medication should be suspended or breastfeeding should be halted. Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, thus its use is not recommended in this population. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney and liver function, so starting with a lower dosage and careful monitoring of their condition is recommended. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and symptoms due to vascular dilation may occur; immediate medical attention is required, and treatment to raise blood pressure may be necessary. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, in a location inaccessible to children. There may be interactions with other medications taken concurrently, so if you are on any other medications, it is crucial to inform your healthcare provider; especially be cautious when taking potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, as the risk of increased serum potassium levels exists. This medication is effective for blood pressure control; however, users should adhere to the precautions and regularly consult with healthcare providers.
