Precautions

This medication may put a strain on the liver, so individuals who regularly consume several drinks of alcohol per day must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. If severe rashes or allergic reactions occur during the use of this medication, it is important to stop taking it immediately and inform healthcare professionals. Due to the risk of seizures, patients with a history of seizures or those taking medications that increase the risk of seizures should use this medication cautiously. This medication can rarely cause life-threatening anaphylaxis, so if allergic symptoms appear, one should visit a medical institution immediately. Patients with severe asthma may experience worsened breathing difficulties when taking this medication, so it should only be used in an environment where professional monitoring is available. The combination of this drug with alcohol or central nervous system depressants can result in severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, and coma, so combination should be avoided or approached with extreme caution. Patients with head injuries or increased intracranial pressure may have worsened symptoms due to respiratory depression when taking this medication, so caution is needed. This medication can cause physical and psychological dependence, so careful monitoring for dependence is necessary with long-term use. Patients with impaired liver function must consult a doctor before taking this medication and should avoid overdosing on acetaminophen. Certain genotypes may metabolize this medication rapidly, leading to severe respiratory depression, in which case dosage adjustments or alternative medications may be necessary. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years old or adolescents under 18 years old who have undergone tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy. Patients with sleep apnea may experience worsened symptoms after taking this medication and require continuous monitoring and dosage adjustments as necessary. Elderly patients or those at risk of hyponatremia should be closely monitored for symptoms of hyponatremia while taking this medication. This medication is contraindicated for certain patients, and those with hypersensitivity, severe respiratory depression, head trauma, or central nervous system drug toxicity should not take it. When taken with other central nervous system depressants, this medication can exacerbate respiratory depression and sedation, so the lowest possible dose should be used, and patients must be closely monitored. While taking this medication, drowsiness or dizziness may occur during activities requiring attention, such as driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, serious respiratory depression, seizures, liver damage, etc., may occur, so it is critical to adhere strictly to the dosage and seek immediate emergency treatment in case of overdose.
