This medication is effective for allergic conditions such as seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and pruritus. It can also be used in combination with hydrocortisone topical preparations for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis. It helps alleviate and treat these symptoms, improving the quality of life of patients.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years: Administer 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. For patients sensitive to side effects, administer 5 mg twice daily, in the morning and evening. Adjust the dosage according to age and symptoms. Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have had allergic reactions to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or children under 6 years of age should not use this medication. This drug contains lactose and should not be given to patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. It is advisable to avoid taking this medication together with certain drugs such as theophylline or ritonavir. Taking it with alcohol can exacerbate side effects, so it is best avoided. Patients with weakened kidney or liver function, the elderly, people with epilepsy, pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Elderly patients with diminished kidney function may experience increased drug concentration in the blood, so it is recommended to start at a lower dose and monitor their condition closely. This medication may worsen conditions with poor urine output, so caution is advised for patients with related illnesses. No specific issues were found in animal studies during pregnancy; however, for safety, it is preferable to consult with an expert before taking it. Women who are breastfeeding should be cautious as the drug can be transmitted through breast milk and may affect the baby. Overdosing on this medication can cause symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, headache, rapid heartbeat, and urinary problems, and immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. During treatment, side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, indigestion, skin rash, and liver function abnormalities may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel.
