This medication effectively controls blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It is also used for patients with heart failure with impaired left ventricular function who require additional therapy to ACE inhibitors or who do not tolerate ACE inhibitors well. Therefore, it assists in the treatment of hypertension and certain heart failure patients.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken daily at the same time, regardless of meals. 1. Essential Hypertension - For initial and maintenance dose, it is recommended to administer 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil once daily. - If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment with 16 mg once daily, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. - Carefully consider dose adjustments for patients with intravascular volume depletion and renal impairment.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy for adolescents and children under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this drug or its components, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver disease, and patients with hereditary angioedema should not use this medication. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, liver disease, heart valve disease, and those with impaired kidney function should use this drug cautiously and require regular monitoring. Side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and upper respiratory infections may occur during treatment; in severe cases, symptoms such as hypotension, worsening kidney function, and hyperkalemia may appear, so caution is needed. Especially, heart failure patients or those with weak kidney function should regularly monitor serum potassium and creatinine levels to monitor their condition. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, potassium supplements, etc., so it is essential to consult healthcare personnel. Women who are planning to become pregnant or may be pregnant should not take this medication, and it is also advisable to avoid use while breastfeeding. The safety of this medication has not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, so its use is not recommended. Caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur, and in cases of overdose, hypotension and dizziness may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
