This medication is effective in treating various bacterial infections. It is used for respiratory diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It also helps in the treatment of urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. It is used for sexually transmitted diseases such as pelvic infection and gonorrhea, as well as for furuncles, abscesses, soft tissue infections, wound infections, and osteomyelitis. It is also effective in treating dental infections. It is widely used for a variety of infectious diseases.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder. This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic, and patients who have had allergic reactions to this ingredient or to penicillin should avoid taking it. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should also be cautious, as the use of this medication may increase the risk of rash. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should use this drug cautiously, adjusting the dosing interval particularly in cases of severe kidney impairment. Also, patients with allergic predispositions, gastrointestinal diseases, and the elderly should be monitored carefully. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur after taking this medication, and in severe cases, serious illnesses such as pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may develop.
