This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by coronary artery diseases such as hypertension, stable angina, and variant angina. Additionally, it reduces the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients without heart failure or with an ejection fraction of 40% or more, and it also decreases the risk associated with coronary artery revascularization. Therefore, it helps manage cardiovascular diseases and improve patient health.

How to take

Adult dose

As S-Amlodipine, take 2.5mg orally once daily; dosage can be increased up to a maximum of 5mg daily based on the patient's response. Adjust dosage appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be taken by those who are allergic to this medication or any of its components or to similar classes of drugs. It is also advisable that pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women avoid the use of this medication. Furthermore, patients suffering from cardiogenic shock, those with severe heart problems, severe liver dysfunction, and patients with very low blood pressure may be at risk if taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, so those with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should avoid taking it. Patients with severe renal disease, elderly patients, those with acute heart failure, and patients with slightly impaired liver function should take special care when using this medication and should follow their physician's instructions carefully. Discontinuing this medication suddenly may worsen symptoms, hence, it should be gradually reduced under the guidance of a physician when stopping the medication. It is recommended to avoid taking grapefruit juice while on this medication, as grapefruit juice can enhance its effects and increase the risk of side effects. Additionally, there may be interactions if this medication is taken with other blood pressure medications, certain antibiotics, antidepressants, etc., so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals if other medications are being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication and particularly those who are breastfeeding should discontinue nursing during use. Use in children is only recommended for those aged 6 years and older, as safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 6 years. Elderly patients may have higher blood concentrations of this medication, so starting from a lower dose and carefully monitoring their condition is warranted. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, heart rhythm abnormalities, shock, etc. may occur, so immediate emergency treatment is necessary. This medication is not removed by hemodialysis, so caution is required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers for safety.
