Adult dose

Generally, finasteride is administered orally at a dose of 1 mg once daily, with or without food. Typically, it takes more than 3 months of use to see therapeutic effects, and continuous usage is recommended to maintain the therapeutic effects. If treatment is discontinued, the therapeutic effects will diminish within 12 months.

This medication should not be used by children or women. In particular, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not touch broken pieces of this medication. This is because it interferes with the conversion of male hormones, which can affect the development of external genitalia in male fetuses. It may affect mental health, and if depression or mood changes occur, immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary. Patients with poor liver function or lipid metabolism disorders should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause sexual dysfunction, such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculatory disorders; if these symptoms occur, treatment should be discontinued and a physician consulted. If any changes or pain in the breasts occur while taking this medication, medical staff should be notified immediately. Additionally, this medication can affect blood test results, so caution is needed when interpreting PSA test results. There is no specific antidote for overdose; however, no serious side effects have been reported in clinical trials even at high doses. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it into another container. Finally, this medication is not known to interact significantly with other drugs, but if other medications are being taken, this should be communicated to the medical staff.
