View approved original text

This medication helps to reduce elevated triglyceride levels when used alone in patients with endogenous type IV hypertriglyceridemia. Additionally, it may enhance the effect when used in combination with statin medications in patients presenting with both hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia type IIb. In particular, it is beneficial in improving symptoms even when triglyceride levels are not adequately controlled, by administering it alongside statins. Thus, it aids in regulating blood lipid levels in various forms of hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components or in children under 18 years of age. It should be used with caution in patients at high risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or surgery, in patients with poor liver function, and in patients with fish allergies. While taking this medication, patients may experience various side effects such as dyspepsia, headache, dizziness, and skin rash, so caution is necessary. Regular monitoring of triglyceride levels through blood tests before and during treatment is required, and treatment can be discontinued if there is no therapeutic effect. This medication should be used along with non-drug treatments such as dietary management and exercise, and using it alone should not diminish the importance of dietary therapy. Pregnant or nursing women should carefully consider the potential effects on the fetus or infant before using this medication and should only use it when necessary. It may also be used in the elderly, but patients aged 65 and above should be monitored closely. There is an increased risk of bleeding when this medication is taken with other blood thinners, so blood coagulation status should be checked regularly. In case of overdose, it is important to receive appropriate treatment based on symptoms. Keep out of reach of children, and avoid transferring medication to other containers to prevent accidents.
