Summary

Main use
Assisting effect in ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, corneal graft, glaucoma)
Who receives it
Adults
Adult administration
1. During cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation, slowly inject the required amount into the anterior chamber before or after lens removal using a needle or cannula. It should be injected before cataract extraction and insertion of the intraocular lens to optimize the protective effects on the corneal endothelium as an adjunctive treatment, thus it should be injected before both intra-capsular and extra-capsular cataract surgeries. 2. During corneal graft surgery, fill the anterior chamber with this medication until the corneal graft is removed and matches the corneal surface level. Place the donor graft on top of this medication and suture it.

Assisting effect in ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, corneal graft, glaucoma)

View approved original text

This medication is used to assist in various ophthalmic surgeries such as lens implantation during cataract surgery, corneal graft surgery, and glaucoma surgery.

How it is given

Precautions

This drug contains sodium hyaluronate and is primarily used after eye surgery. It should not be administered to patients who have a hypersensitivity to the ingredients or protein-based drugs included in this medication. During use, the eye pressure may temporarily increase, and side effects such as inflammation, corneal edema, opacity, bleeding, pain, itching, visual impairment, etc., may rarely occur. Additionally, care should be taken as there is a possibility of opacity developing on the surface of the intraocular lens. As this medication contains phosphate, there have been very rare reports of corneal calcification occurring in patients with severe corneal damage. The eye pressure must be carefully checked immediately after surgery, and appropriate measures should be taken if the pressure increases. If possible, it is advisable to wash or aspirate this medication after surgery to remove it. Before conducting ultrasonic emulsification aspiration, a procedure to create a space with a perfusate between the lens and this medication must be performed. Avoid using solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkonium chloride to clean surgical instruments. This medication should not be used in conjunction with hyaluronidase, as there is a risk of interaction. This medication is for ophthalmic use only and must never be injected intravenously. Before use, the refrigerated medication should be left at room temperature for about 30 minutes to reach an appropriate temperature. Care must be taken as contact with benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine may cause precipitation. After opening, it should be used only once, and any remaining medication should be discarded along with the container. When mixing the medication with air for use, care must be taken to prevent air from entering under the iris. When injecting, do so slowly and cautiously, and ensure that it is not over-injected, as this can increase eye pressure. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a sealed container in a cool, dry place. Additionally, to preserve quality and prevent misuse, it should not be transferred to another container.
