This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension and heart failure with reduced left ventricular function. It is especially applied to patients who require additional treatment with ACE inhibitors or who have poor tolerance. How to take

Adult dose

For adults with essential hypertension: The initial and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of candesartan cilexetil taken orally once daily. If blood pressure control is insufficient after 4 weeks of treatment with 16 mg once daily, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. For adults with heart failure: The recommended initial dose is 4 mg once daily, with the dose increased by doubling at intervals of at least 2 weeks, up to a maximum of 32 mg once daily depending on patient tolerance.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Special caution is needed when combined with lithium or potassium-sparing diuretics to carefully monitor serum potassium levels.
