Summary

Main use
Improvement of cholesterol and lipids in primary hypercholesterolemia (homozygous familial) and mixed hyperlipidemia
Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
This medication should be taken once daily in the evening, regardless of meals. The dosage range for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia is 10/10 mg to 10/40 mg daily, with the generally recommended starting dosage being 10/20 mg daily. Patients with less need for LDL-cholesterol reduction may start at 10/10 mg daily. After starting this medication or adjusting the dosage, blood lipid levels should be checked at intervals of at least 4 weeks to adjust the dosage. Due to the increased risk of muscle disease, including rhabdomyolysis, the 10/80 mg dose of this medication should only be given to patients who have taken 10/80 mg for more than 12 months without evidence of muscle toxicity (refer to warnings in usage precautions).

This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary restrictions to decrease elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, and triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and mixed hyperlipidemia. It is also administered in homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when other treatments are ineffective or require assistance. This medication should be used alongside appropriate dietary measures and other non-pharmacological strategies, and it is vital to first identify and treat other diseases or medications causing dyslipidemia. Blood lipid levels should be regularly monitored to assess treatment efficacy. This medication helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia. Therefore, it is effectively used for blood lipid control and cardiovascular disease prevention.
