How to take

Adult dose

This medication can be taken regardless of meals, although it is recommended to be taken at the same time every day. For the treatment of hypertension, adults should take 50 mg of Losartan Potassium orally once daily. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dose may be divided into twice daily or increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily. For patients with kidney disease related to type 2 diabetes and hypertension, it is usually 50 mg once daily, depending on blood pressure.

Child dose

Children and adolescents aged 6 years and older have varying dosages based on weight. Patients weighing 20 kg to less than 50 kg should take 25 mg once daily, with a maximum of 50 mg depending on blood pressure response.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. Therefore, it should not be taken by pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. Patients who have hypersensitivity to this medication or specific conditions such as severe liver impairment, hereditary angioedema, or primary aldosteronism should not use it. Caution should be taken in elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, liver impairment, cardiovascular diseases, or decreased kidney function as blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored regularly. Muscle cramps, dizziness, cough, and dyspepsia may occur; if these symptoms are severe, consult a physician. If symptoms such as extremely low blood pressure or worsening kidney function occur, notify healthcare personnel immediately. This medication may interact with certain other drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, especially potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, angioedema (potentially causing airway obstruction such as laryngeal/glottic edema, swelling of face/lips/throat/tongue), high fever with severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in mouth/eyes, dyspnea, asthmatic attack, cough with fever and respiratory abnormalities, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), severe systemic lethargy, sudden and extreme.
