Relief of allergy symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and chronic urticaria
This medication is effectively used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and pruritus associated with skin conditions. It also helps alleviate symptoms when used in combination with topical hydrocortisone for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis. This drug is used to reduce allergy symptoms and improve skin itching, thereby enhancing the quality of life for patients.
Oral tablets: Take 10mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. For patients sensitive to adverse reactions, administer 5mg divided into morning and evening doses. Adjust dosage based on kidney function for patients with renal impairment. Oral liquid: Take 10mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily. For patients sensitive to adverse reactions, administer divided doses in the morning and evening. For moderate to severe cases
Oral tablets: For children over 6 years, take 10mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. For pediatric patients with renal impairment, dosage should be individualized based on renal clearance and weight.
This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic or hypersensitive to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under 6 years of age should not use this medication. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, individuals with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should avoid taking it. During treatment with this drug, certain medications, such as theophylline or ritonavir, should not be taken together as potential interactions may occur. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue breast-feeding since this medication is secreted in small amounts in breast milk, and it should also be avoided when consuming alcohol. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, the elderly, those with epilepsy, and individuals with urinary problems should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, headache, itching, and urinary retention may occur, and immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. This drug can affect the central nervous system and may cause drowsiness or headaches, and adverse reactions can occur in several organs including the digestive, circulatory, blood, immune, skin, liver, and kidneys, so caution is needed. Using this medication before allergy testing may affect test results, so it is advisable to stop taking it 3 to 5 days prior to testing. When driving or operating machinery, do not exceed the dosage, and caution is required when taken with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. Though this medication can be taken with food without reducing absorption, the rate of absorption may be slightly delayed. Finally, it should be stored out of reach of children and kept in the original container; transferring it to another container may result in accidents or quality deterioration.
