Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to any of its components, including the active ingredient. It is also not indicated for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. When used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, which can induce hypoglycemia, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, thus dose adjustments may be necessary. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with heart failure, and if symptoms of acute pancreatitis develop, the medication should be discontinued immediately. If symptoms such as persistent, severe abdominal pain resembling pancreatitis or skin abnormalities like vesicular pemphigoid occur during treatment, immediate consultation with a physician is required. This medication is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and adverse reactions such as hypoglycemia, gastrointestinal disturbances, and skin rash have been reported in clinical trials. Particularly, hypoglycemia may occur more frequently when taken with metformin or sulfonylureas. Use in pregnant or nursing women is not recommended, and safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in children and adolescents, thus it is not recommended for them. Elderly patients as well as those with compromised kidney or liver function can use this medication without special dose adjustments. In cases of overdose, general supportive measures are required, including removing any unabsorbed drug from the gastrointestinal tract and monitoring symptoms. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container is not advisable as it may affect the quality.
